Love ?

I’ve been in love once.  Only once.  Looking back on it now I don’t think she ever really loved me though.  I’ve been in relationships with women that really loved me and I didn’t feel the same.  Hell, I’ve been in relationships were neither of us loved the other but we stayed together because we liked spending time together and the sex was good.

I also know that true love exists.  Two people that are much more together than either could be apart.  Soulmates, to abuse a cliche.  I’ve seen it first-hand.  I know it’s real.

So … how common is it ?  Say there is someone out there for everyone, who’s to say you ever actually meet ?  What if you do meet that person but one or both of you are not in a particularly “right” place in your lives and you pass each other by ?
