You just can’t photograph a cocktail
Or at least I can’t.
I tried to get a picture of this thing. Honestly, in person, it is a redish golden color. Looks like a red-tinted bourbon. Beautiful. I must’ve taken a dozen pictures and cant’ get the lighting right. The picture always comes out too red/dark.
Oh well. This is what I’m fucking drinking. If anyone has any advice about photographing booze let me know.

The US flag is ‘political’ ?
A firefighter was suspended for refusing to remove a US flag sticker from his locker.
From NBC Philadelphia:
A new department rule mandates that all stickers and statements – union, cartoon and political – be stripped from lockers after several offensive and racist images showed up in the firehouse.
I honestly don’t know how much more of this I can stand.
Booze of the Week
Manhattan
2 parts Whiskey (bourbon,rye,canadian)
1 part sweet vermouth
1 dash angostura bitters
1 cherry
Shaken with ice, strained into cocktail glass.
Variations:
“Perfect” Manhattan – replace the 1 part sweet vermouth with 1/2 parts of both sweet and dry vermouth. I’ve not tried this one yet, I hope to soon.
Play with the whiskey/vermouth ratio. Some like 3:1 whiskey:vermouth, some go the other direction with a 1:1. I’ve been doing 3:2 personally.
Splash a bit of cherry juice in as well. I’ve not done this yet, but I’ll try this one too. Alternatively, squeeze a cherry or two into the shaker before mixing.
Leaving Las Vegas
Is there a sadder movie ever made ? I mean the end is obviously dictated by the beginning. Two completely fucked up losers meeting at the bottom or near it.
The beauty of Leaving Las Vegas is … (i’ve typed this line at least a dozen times) ….
it simply is what it is.
Was there ever a movie made like this ? Really most movies are ripoffs of this that or the other …. is there another film like Leaving Las Vegas ?
