Booze of the Week
I’ve recently moved on to Gin. First, on the recommendation of the girl at the liquor store, I’ve chosen New Amsterdam Gin. Monday I intend to pick up a more traditional Gin (Beefeater) so I’ll have something to compare to.
First up is the Gin and Tonic.

I must admit I didn’t have much hope for this one but I was pleasantly surprised. I used a ratio of almost 1:1 Gin:Tonic, maybe 4:5. I had no limes so I tossed in a splash of lime juice. It made for a damn fine drink.
I’m sure you’ve all heard stories about gin hangovers especially when dealing with cheaper gin (which New Amsterdam is). I killed roughly 2/3 of the bottle in one morning and I must say the hangover was less than what I was used to and didn’t last near as long. This will obviously require further testing.

This was the first alcoholic drink I ever had. It is a refreshing one for summers here in Texas. Might have one tonight, since it’s my birthday
Apologies for my absence, since I was in Philly away from a laptop.
Oh, and did you give up on taking pics of the drinks, or just didn’t feel like playing “find stuff in the background”?
Welcome back!
I didn’t give up on photographing drinks, I just didn’t happen to have one in front of
myme when I wrote this post.In front of your…..what, exactly?
damn typos
Damn, I go away for a few days, and now Geek doesn’t want to play….
Heh!
This is what happens when you let me fall out of practice.
My most humble apologies, and I shall endeavor never to let that happen again
Happy birthday, LC! I’ve been meaning to try gin for awhile. The hub doesn’t like it at all, but we recently hosted a gathering and someone left behind some Bombay Sapphire and tonic.
I’ve heard said that Bombay Sapphire is the best of the bunch. Pricey too.
When I was a teenager, I loved the taste of gin so much, I eventually took to drinking it with no mixers. Every serious gin drinker I ever knew, ended up badly. “Razor blade soup” is how my father described it. He was a vodka drinker.
Ah, gin; Paulie’s current favorite hard liquor.
A truly fine brand is Plymouth Gin and not too pricey.
The BEST gin, in my practiced opinion, is Hendrick’s Gin. Perfect for a dry (as in a vermouth threat only); shaken and shaken again and garnished with a cucumber slice.
Smoooooooooooth.. trust me, I’m not a doctor.
I suppose I’ll have to add Hendrick’s to my shopping list.
Hmmmm….speaking of….
Have you gone on a date with her yet??
No, I don’t think that’s gonna happen. Not sure what’s up with that but I called her a couple of times and she sorta put me off, said she was ‘busy’, I told her to call me when she wasn’t. She didn’t call.
Well, that sucks monkey nuts….
Here’s hoping she calls.
