Headline of the Week (so far)
Ok, so the article refers to finding a first edition copy of Charles Darwin’s On the Origin of Species, in the bathroom “library”. One would think for such a highly-prized tome, they could have gone with a less *ahem* scatological reference, but hey, whatever it takes to grab attention, right?
Consider this your evolving Open Thread.
Astonishing Aerial Photographs from WWII
peiper over at Barking Moonbat EWS found some absolutely kickass aerial photos from WWII.
I grabbed this one because I’m a big fan of the movie A Bridge Too Far. As well as a fan of the huge iron balls it took to attempt Operation Market Garden.

Dotted around the fields of Holland, these gliders clustered together formed just a small part of Operation Market Garden in September 1944 – the largest airborne operation ever carried out

I’m going to make you go over to Barking Moonbat EWS to see the rest of these.
Barbarians at the Gate
This is old but I just found it and it is certainly worth reading. Guy S at Snugg Harbor has put together a pretty good “who’s who” relating to the jackasses currently fucking up the country.
From Snugg Harbor:
The barbarians are well and truly inside the gates. They are in our midst, at all levels of society and government. They are a mix of all racial, ethnic, cultures, and genders. They are young and old. They are of a number of political points of view, and ideologies. They are even of differing religious viewpoints (or no religion at all). But they all want one thing at the end of the day, and that is the total and complete destruction of not only this country, but of Western civilization as we know it.
Let’s take a look at them.
Go read it. I’ll wait.
NWO, Hulk Hogan Not Included
So, I was perusing The Drudge Report, and I found this little nugget.
The Climate Conference in Copenhagen is another step forward towards the global management of our planet……
cmblake has a fabulous post on the unraveling swindle. Fucking socialist swine should be hanged…..drawn and quartered….entrails set on fire….etc.
Smart Guns
Bob Owens of Confederate Yankee writes up a good piece about “smart guns”:
The simple fact of the matter is that technological hurdles are only part of the problem, and there are only very few people who have any real interest in seeing the technology come to fruition. Traditional defenders of gun rights have joined with their anti-gun foes to attack what both sides consider a gimmicky solution.
If CY isn’t a regular read for you, it should be.

White Lightnin’

Well in North Carolina, way back in the hills
Me and my old pappy had a hand in a still
We brewed white lightnin’ ’til the sun went down
Then he’d fill him a jug and he’d pass it around
Mighty, mighty pleasin, pappy’s corn squeezin’
Whshhhoooh . . . white lightnin’
Well the “G” men, “T” men, revenuers, too
Searchin’ for the place where he made his brew
They were looking, tryin to book him,
But my pappy kept a-cookin’
Whshhhoooh . . . white lightnin’
Well I asked my old pappy why he called his brew
White lightnin’ ‘stead of mountain dew
I took a little sip and right away I knew
As my eyes bugged out and my face turned blue
Lightnin’ started flashin’ and thunder started crashin’
Shhhoooh . . . white lightnin’
Well the “G” men, “T” men, revenuers, too
Searchin’ for the place where he made his brew
They were looking, tryin to book him,
but my pappy kept a-cookin’
Whshhhoooh . . . white lightnin’
Well a city slicker came and he said “I’m tough”
I think I wanna taste that powerful stuff
He took one g-g-glug and drank it right down
And I heard him a moaning as he hit the ground
Mighty, mighty pleasin, pappy’s corn squeezin’
Whshhhoooh . . . white lightnin’
Well the “G” men, “T” men, revenuers, too
Searchin’ for the place where he made his brew
They were looking, tryin to book him,
but my pappy kept a-cookin’
Whshhhoooh . . . white lightnin’…
What I’m Smoking
Today, I’m smoking Peter Stokkebye’s Optimum Pipe Tobacco. This is actually some pretty good stuff. It is an extremely light aromatic hinting at rum and vanilla (I could be wrong). While it is almost too light, it is a very pleasant smoke.

I feel bad for bumping Tricia Helfer for tobacco.
