Polls

Posted by ArmedGeek on Monday, December 7, 2009 in Poll

I’ve added a new feature to H&B. Polls. The current poll is simply a question of class of booze you enjoy. Yes, I realize there are many different Rums, Whisk(e)ys, Beers, etc. The next poll will probably take the top two from this poll and break them down into smaller categories. I’m just looking for the broad strokes here.

The other purpose of such a broad poll is just to see if any of you are interested in such a thing. It would take more effort than I care to expend to attach a particular user to his/her vote. I’m not going to lie to you, I probably could attach a vote to a user (not sure, but probably) but I do know it would be far more effort than its worth. I get that privacy doesn’t really matter when it comes to what kind of booze you like, but that goes for any future polls as well.

So, the big test will be over the next couple of weeks or so. I do know how many regular commenters i have and roughly how many individuals visit this site so I’ll have a ballpark estimate of how many folks give a shit about the polls.

One last word about polls as they relate to this site: Questions concerning topics I post about will be affected by the polls. That is to say if a significant number of my readers prefer whiskey to rum, I will place my priorities on whiskey as opposed to rum. That is not to say I’ll not eventuallly get around to both, but preferences will (and should) be dictated by those interested as I’m not a news organization.

(I will vote in each poll, but will not be the first.)

Rabbit of Seville

I was talking with LC Aggie Sith about this one just the other day but it took a while to find a decent video.

Bugs always was, and always will be my fucking hero. Despite the cross-dressing.

Al Gore, Poet Laureate

Posted by LC Aggie Sith on Monday, December 7, 2009 in ClimateGate

As we all know, The Goron published a new tome, worthy of holding up wobbly tables, by the title of “Our Choice”. Unfortunately for the rest of the thinking world, the whole book is devoted to what we must do about the OMGWTFCLIMATECHANGE!!!111ELEVENTY!!!, not about any actual choice we may have as individuals. But this little gem is found within its chapters, right between OMG and WTF:

One thin September soon
A floating continent disappears
In midnight sun

Vapors rise as
Fever settles on an acid sea

Really?? He can pinpoint with deadly accuracy the month when the seas will boil? Moving along:

Snow glides from the mountain
Ice fathers floods for a season
A hard rain comes quickly

Then dirt is parched
Kindling is placed in the forest
For the lightning’s celebration

You know, Al…we wouldn’t have the whole “kindling” problem if the fucking envirowackos who worship you would let us control it. And as far as “snow gliding”, well, that happens every spring. It’s called a melt, necessary to provide areas with water, oh Moronic One. And the coup de grace:

The shepherd cries
The hour of choosing has arrived
Here are your tools

Ahhhh, now I get it: The Goron is our Shepherd, and we shall not want!!!! Newsflash: WE ARE NOT SHEEP!!!! So, sod off, you Gaia Prophet, and make sure you give that Gulfstream a tune-up, preferably by sucking on the tailpipe.

Booze of the Week

I’m pulling this one right out of left field. Honestly, this is one of the odder liquors I’ve decided to try. I picked this up on the advice of semi-regular commenter Moses. This should also serve as warning that I might just ban his ass if this stuff sucks.

After removing the cap the first smell is just Jim Beam. After a couple of passes across the nose I can smell the cherry at the edges. Even after recapping, I still feel I can smell the cherry.

Updates under the fold…

From Watts Up With That:

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will early next week, possibly as soon as Monday, officially declare carbon dioxide a public danger, a trigger that could mean regulation for emitters across the economy, according to several people close to the matter.
