Obama’s Pet Peacock’s New Mating Call

Posted by LC Aggie Sith on Sunday, December 6, 2009 in Entertainment, Politics

It comes as no surprise that GE decided to unload sell a majority stake of its NBC Universal division. Truthfully, GE had been spread thin with the boondoggle that NBC has become. But now we find that Comcast, the new majority owner of the Peacock Network, has an agenda of its own:

But beyond the regulatory and legal minutia that technically govern this proposed deal, one obscenely crass, downright offensive action by Comcast’s CEO warrants the application of withering scrutiny to the merger.

A day, one single day, after the two media giants announced their deal, Comcast CEO Brian Roberts proudly weighed in to strongly support the Senate Democrat’s healthcare reform bill.

Comcast has thousands of employees, and if this monstrosity of a bill passes, the company would find it in its best interest to cut employee insurance off their books and force the workers onto the government program.

But that’s not the least of it. It turns out this administration has been making noises about restricting large mergers, and this would certainly qualify as one. And since this merger still needs government approval, it isn’t a big leap to conclude this is a major suck-up move to ease the transition. It comes as no surprise that Jeffrey Immelt is also a big supporter of Obamacare. His support would be paid in return by government handouts for wind energy, in which GE is heavily invested.

So, fuck you very much, Comcast.

  1. Yeah, fuck Comcast.

But they are susceptible to the marketplace still. If enough people say fuck you by either cancelling their comcast subscription, or by making it clear that they do not watch NBC at all, making it a poor place to pay for advertising, ole Brian Roberts will feel the economic bite, and maybe reality will slap him to his senses.

Of course, he could always launch into a huge diatribe about how evil capitalism is, and that under socialism, his company wouldn’t be suffering.

Sounds like another fuck that needs to be put up against the wall when the revolution comes.

  2. Weirdly enough, while reading about this, I found out Warren Buffet and George Soros own stakes in DirecTV and AT&T. The time may come when we have to kill that babysitter, before she starts propagandizing everything.

And yes, I know propaganda is alive and well in all TV…just saying right now we can choose the propaganda ;)
