Star Trek
Stolen from ClamBake 6′s site:
I’m a big fan of all things Star Trek. Yes great fun has been made of the bad special effects and the mostly bad acting, but Star Trek really was/is an important work. Generally, I equate TV or movies to photographs or paintings but some some television shows or movies equate more to the level of literature. I’m not saying Star Trek was great writing or acting, but taken as a whole work I will say that it is important to human culture as any piece of literature. I could mention the race/ethnicity/nationality of the crew as example of its importance as most people do. I could mention the importance of such a ‘positive’ science fiction television show aired as it was during the Space Race. But I won’t (although I sorta just did).

Glad you liked it. It was one of the greatest stories EVAH!
You made my morning, ArmedGeek!!!
I *heart* Star Trek (TOS)!!!!!
Yeah, Star Trek was the greatest. When I was a kid, I watched it almost every day….on the little black and white television in my room. I didn’t realize it was actually in color until many years later, lol.
Some of my favorite episodes were:
Where No Man Has Gone Before
A Taste Of Armageddon
The City On The Edge Of Forevor
Who Mourns For Adonais?
A Piece Of The Action
What’s some of y’all’s favorites?
Damnit Jim, I’m a blogger not a web designer.
Sorry but I gotta go with the TNG Rap as the best Star Trek inspired song…
Let’s see…
The Trouble with Tribbles, because they were so damn cute (yes, I still want one).
For the World is Hollow, and I Have Touched the Sky, because it’s the only one where McCoy get’s the girl, and then his heart is broken.
City on the Edge of Forever, because Joan Collins dies.
The Naked Time, because it’s like watching a party.
Space Seed, because KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!!!!!!!!!!!
Mirror, Mirror, because Spock has a goatee.
Amok Time, because Spock is awesome when insane.
Wolf in the Fold, because Scotty gets the girl, sort of…
The rest are in a tie for second place…
This will probably get me pulled from your blogroll, but I have to admit I never really liked the TV show. The movies were better, but I could look back on my life and not see an empty hole had I never watched an episode.
LC Aggie Sith:
GEEK!
Snarky:
W …. T …. F ?
This coming from you???
I was never a big fan of TOS. I like TNG, but DS9 was my favorite of all of the shows. After that I lost interest.
Still, you tend to remember individual episodes of TOS the better than the newer ones. Trouble with Tribbles was great, but I think I like the one with the Space Hippies the best.
I remember a few years ago watching TNG at night before I would go to bed, I got TOS off iTunes the other week and I have been watching that for the first time, I have enjoyed most of it so far but… The Enemy Within and The Galileo Seven have been two of my fave. I really need to find Mirror, Mirror now, just to see Spock with a goatee, thank you for that LC Aggie Sith!
Tribbles has to be my favorite as well. Though the ones with “Harvey Mudd” were great fun as well.
Scotty was my favorite character, followed by “Bones” McCoy, then Spock. Shatner has, due to age, experience, and perhaps developing a sense of self depreciating humor over the years, a much better actor, than he was back in the TOS days. (He gets a high five, for his interplay with Gov Palin in the reading of excerpts from their respective books.)
Moses, that episode was great!! And Uhura in a bare midriff, too
I could never pick a favorite character, Guy. They were all so different!
Speaking of Star Trek TOS, back in the nineties they came out with a Star Trek collectible card game. Around the time the game came out, one of the gaming/collectibles magazines released a few joke cards to add to that game.
There were some really hilarious ones, like “Shirtless Kirk”, which nullified any female characters the opponent played, and “Red Shirt Syndrome”, which killed off whatever character you played it on.
Seems like there was also “Papier Mache Rocks”, “Tribble Trouble”, and “You Canna Change The Laws Of Physics”.
Damn, talking about the old series is making me want to watch them again…I may have to break down and shell out some money for the season colletions on DVD.
