Well, feeling a bit on the rundown side, but thought I would share some of the more interesting bits of news going around the interwebtubenets. Some funny, some stupid, some downright WTF invoking.

We start off in Canada, where we find Newfoundland’s Premier Danny Williams will be having heart surgery here in the United States later this week. Exact location, type of surgery, or method of payment is not known at this time. You can detect the floating question marks coming from Newfoundland all the way over in Texas.

We now go over to China. Deputy Ambassador to Israel Zhang Xiao’an claims that ties with China are deteriorating since Obama became president. The ambassador noted that usually relations between the Chinese gov’t and the new US president start off frosty, but gradually warm up. She claims in this case, it has worked backwards. The Great Uniter strikes again.

Over in Iran, Aquavelvajad (thanks, TheDudeAbides!), is claiming that Iran will will deliver a harsh blow to “global arrogance” (I don’t think he means the French), on February 11th, the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution. I can only assume he will have his jacket pressed for the occassion.

Meanwhile in Haiti, the voodoo high priest is raising a stink over being discriminated against, saying evangelical Christians are monopolizing aid coming into the country. Keep in mind this guy holds a degree in Biochemistry from the Universite de Paris, La Sorbonne. Yes, this is a WTF as far as I’m concerned.

In England, Climategate is opening a few eyes, and pouring salt in the open wounds of careers. Now the beleaguered Phil Jones is facing new claims that he sought to hide problems in key temperature data on which some of his work was based. This is not only an OMG, but also a WTF, not because of the claims (we all know about that). No…because this is a feature story on UK’s The Guardian. The freakin’ GUARDIAN, people!!! In the same section they have this: “How the ‘climategate’ scandal is bogus and based on climate sceptics’ lies”. This is the most blatant example of Cover-Your-Ass I have seen in a while.

Hope y’all are adjusting to having six more weeks of winter. I don’t think Punxsutawney Phil got the AGW memo.

Yeh, I had a particularly huge guffaw erupt when I read the following non sequitur in the Guardian article:

“The revelations on the inadequacies of the 1990 paper do not undermine the case that humans are causing climate change, and other studies have produced similar findings. But they do call into question the probity of some climate change science.”

Yeh, “other studies” mostly using data from the same set of crooks.

  2. That sure was the money quote, David. I choked when I read it. :D

  3. Curtal Friar says:

Yeah, kinda reminds me of Rathergate a few years ago. You know, where the info Rather was using to try and slam Bush was shown to be completely fabricated, yet Rather still claimed he believed the story was accurate. WTF??

  4. Lemur King says:

Ahmadinejad… he makes these noises and most of the world will either (1) act surprised and betrayed when Iran actually does something -or- (2) get really pissy if we stop him before Iran DOES do something.

This is the mindset of a culture that allows men to shoot at their enemies while hiding behind the skirts of their women and behind their children so they can act indignant when someone fires back. They play the game and make the rules and we let them win the game.

Isn’t the 11th of Feb when Brown gets instated as Senator? The start of the conservative revolution here in the US.
