Last Rendezvous

Posted by LC Aggie Sith on Friday, February 19, 2010 in Geekery, Last Frontier

I was updating some of the applications to my phone this morning, when it occurred to me I had not downloaded the latest Hubble pics.  What was I thinking??? Oh, yeah…. life intruded. So, I thought I would share some of my favorites here, since I can. Heh!

This nebula is known as NGC 6302. The result of gases released by a dying star, it earns the nickname “Butterfly Nebula”. Much more poetic, in my opinion. (more…)

Karma and I Have Stuff in Common

Posted by LC Aggie Sith on Thursday, February 18, 2010 in AssHatery, Celebutards

Yes, we are both bitches. Also, I can levitate.  However, unlike me who just tends to nag, Karma is as subtle as playing pizzicato with a jackhammer on a Stradivarius. Take today’s example:

Durham police arrested Duke lacrosse accuser Crystal Gale Mangum, 33, late Wednesday after she allegedly assaulted her boyfriend, set his clothes on fire in a bathtub and threatened to stab him.

First rule of “D-list” celebrity notoriety: when you have been caught lying, STFU and disappear. Do NOT bring more attention to yourself. Especially after writing a book best classified as a pityfest. Or bad fiction.

Police charged her with attempted first-degree murder, five counts of arson, assault and battery, communicating threats, three counts of misdemeanor child abuse, injury to personal property, identity theft and resisting a public officer.

Looks like Ms. Magnum is moving on up! Not only did she beat up and throw things at her boyfriend, threaten his life, and set his clothes on fire, she did so after the police responded to the domestic disturbance call, no doubt placed by one of the three children present. But what about that “identity theft” charge??

Officers said Mangum gave them a fake name, “Marella Mangum,” and age, prompting the identity theft charge. She also resisted the officers who responded to the scene, according to police documents.

A bit late to think of that, don’t you think??

Her bond was set at $1 million. Mangum has been appointed a public defender and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 22.

Well, maybe she can ask Mike Nifong to represent her. I hear he needs a job.

Milestone: 1600 Comments

Posted by ArmedGeek on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 in News, Uncategorized

Well, here at Hookers & Booze we’ve reached our 1600th comment.

The honor goes to Nicole who said:

Hm. It’s almost like those people who think that if they don’t speak your language all they have to do is shout louder and you’ll get it. They simply aren’t loud enough yet. Soon we will all see the correctness of their ways.

Technically it was LC Aggie Sith who was #1600, but since she writes here, she don’t count.

Previous honorees:
800th Comment -- TheDudeAbides
400th Comment -- WAMK
200th Comment -- GWK
100th Comment -- LC Aggie Sith

Next stop is obviously #3200. (cause Aggie wouldn’t stop harassing me until I fixed it)

Kiss of Death

Posted by LC Aggie Sith on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 in Politics

Remember how Prez Obama campaigned for former NJ governor Jon Corzine? And how he stumped for Craig Deeds in VA? And how he raced to MA at the last minute to save Martha Coakley’s bid for the Senate seat vacated by Ted Kennedy’s took-forever-to-happen demise?

Remember how those turned out?

Well, the Administration has decided that, when you are in a hole, you just need to keep digging:

President Obama kicks off what might be called his “Save the Senate” tour this week, heading west to campaign for two embattled Democrats trailing badly against Republican challengers -- including Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada.

Bad enough Democrat Evan Bayh has decided to retire, bringing the total count of Democrat retirees to five….so far. Now Obama is going to pound sand campaign for Michael Bennet in CO, an appointee after Ken Salazar was appointed Secretary of the Interior. Mr. Bennet trails “Jane Norton, a former lieutenant governor and state representative, by 14 percentage points, and Ken Bush, a district attorney and former congressional aide, by four percentage points.”

That has to hurt…

After CO, Prez Obama plans to be the headliner at a DNC fundraiser in Las Vegas. Wait, what? LAS VEGAS??? The same city he told us proles not to spend time or money?? TWICE?? Wow…. The following day he will bury try to bolster Harry Reid’s numbers, and his popularity. Democratic strategist Bud Jackson explains:

“Obama won’t be able to save senators by visiting their states, but he can help them with fundraising, rallying the base and putting Democrats on the same stage as the president of the United States, which lends credibility.”

I don’t care who you are, that right there is funny!!!

Girlie Drink of the Week

Posted by LC Aggie Sith on Monday, February 15, 2010 in Booze Links

So, after the wonderful chocolates, and the great dessert, also chocolate, I had to step away from my standard chocolate martini, and find something simple and elegant with which to get plastered. So, after careful searching and deliberating, not to mention taking stock of what I have on hand, I decided on this:

Chambord Royale

1 oz Chambord raspberry liqueur
1 oz vodka
1 dash cranberry juice
1 splash pineapple juice
Delectable, and so very pretty, too!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Posted by LC Aggie Sith on Sunday, February 14, 2010 in Social

Since I can’t very well send out cards to all of you, and some have health issues that would prevent you from inhaling eating sweets, I decided to share a bit of my lovely gift instead:

Yes, I know…not as delectable as the Hooker of the Week, but still eye candy material. Hope your day is as sweet!!! Hugs and kisses!!!

Texas Conservative’s Blog

Posted by ArmedGeek on Thursday, February 11, 2010 in Politics

I’d like to highlight a new addition to the blogroll. Texas Conservative’s Blog is all over the Texas Gubernatorial race in ways far better than I.

Here’s a point-by-point dismantling of KBH:

The first debate has come and gone, and the clear loser was the 16 year Senator whose votes are coming back to show Texans she has a record…one she cannot defend.

And here:

For those who are involved in the Republican Party, it is known that there are three legs to the stool: Fiscal, Social, and National Security. Now for races on a state level, only the first two legs receive attenion….and will the candidates get questioned on. So, considering national security will not be playing a big roll in the Texas Governor’s race, Senator Hutchison’s campaign is perhaps the most dire of straits since it began.

Go Read. I’ll wait.
