Booze of the Week
Update below the jump
In honor of St Patrick’s Day ….
I’ve not tried it yet as I have to work tonight. I’ll post my first impressions in the morning.
Update: First impression is that it is very different. Most whiskeys are variations on the same theme. This stuff is very different. Different look, different smell, different taste.
Stunningly smooth though. I’m drinking it on the rocks now and I must say it is probably one of the easiest drinking whiskeys I’ve ever tried. I believe I prefer the taste of bourbon but the Jameson certainly has me looking forward to exploring Irish Whiskeys.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying it tastes bad, its actually quite good. Not really what I expected.

Good choice for Paddy’s Day. I like your cowboy statue
Great stuff, although the 12 year old and the 18 year old are even better!
Marc: having never drank the stuff (Irish Whiskey) I was hesitant to break the budget on the “good stuff”.
Jamison’s not bad. Beats the hell outta Jim Beam. In this economy, I’ve had to tone down my refined taste in booze, but there are lows to which I will not stoop!
I didn’t think even the most budget of Irish whiskey belonged in the same sentence as Jim Beam…
Jameson is a truly lovely beverage. Especially when the bottle came from the Belfast tax-free. Lovely stuff.
I really don’t have a problem with Jim Beam. Sure, it ain’t top shelf stuff and I probably wouldn’t (and don’t) regularly stock it, but I’d never turn it down if offered and there are liquors out there that I would turn down.
That fucking Red Stag is certainly on that list.
Let me clarify by saying that Jim Beam works better with a mixer. Personally, I like sippin’ whiskey and Scotch.
Jamesons = good stuff. One age old debate is which is better Jamesons or Bushmills.
If I was asked to choose, Jameson over Bushmills.
But then again, I subscribe to the notion that the cheaper the tequila the better, so what do I know? At least cheap tequila drops the pretense of being drinkable.
After today two or three belts of whiskey sounds heavenly.
Rough day ? Or is that just an everyday excuse for drinking ?
I would choose Bushmill’s Black Bush over regular Jameson’s but I love the 18 year old Jameson’s. Still have to try the 16 and 21 year Bushmill’s someday, if I can ever afford it!
