Bonfire of the Vanities
Since the last open thread turned out to be so popular, and so informative, I thought I would turn the tables a bit. Whereas last time I asked y’all’s opinions about someone else, this time I’m asking y’all’s opinions regarding yourselves. No, nothing bad…really. But everyone has something, a feature or a habit, of which they are most proud satisfied happy. Ok, vain. Vanity can be a good thing when it boosts your morale, right? RIGHT?? So, get your Carly Simon on, grab a mirror, and get to commenting!
By the way, no bodice-rippers were harmed during the making of this post ![]()

I am most proud of my modesty.
To paraphrase Descartes, “I think, therefore I am a genius.”
After all, modesty is for people with modest talents.
Hm… I guess for me my favorite physical feature is my hair. I am really digging going gray. And those who have seen my pic or met me can attest to my mane
Plus, it can hide my face
Which hair are we talking about here, LC?
My CRANIUM, CM!!!!!
Sheesh….dirty old man alert!!!
…and in the early stages of this round, LK hammers a quick flick to the ear of this years favorite – LC Aggie! – who barely winces as she positions herself for a sharp rejoinder!
My personal vanity? My ability to see humor in even the most extreme situation.
It really pleases the shit out of me, if I do say so myself!
Well crap.
That would be C.Monster – not LK.
This – btw – is funny!

That’s a great commercial slap to PETA, McGoo
It’s a toss up between my skill at decorative ropework and my ability to make anything that ends with “sir” be remembered as “F*ck off” ten minutes after I say it.
Hmmmmmm… My family-friendly vocabulary, with its concomitant mental imagery, as well as my kid & pet-friendly ShopJob™ skills?
It’s either that or my ability at running Muff Marathons™ with my tongue.
Wow…looks like I opened a HUGE can o’ worms there….
I have a perfect nose. It’s awesome. I use it all the time in my drawings and sculptures.
I am most vain about my hair. Being a redhead you get teased constantly as a kid, but then as you grow up you realize how rare it is, as compared to the other colors, and you learn to appreciate being different. I am also very proud at being open-minded, because here in the South that is kinda rare too.
Laura, it’s like we’re twins, only I’m dark haired with a lot of gray/white. And I’m of spic descent. And short. Probably older, too.
But it’s possible
Red hair is awesome Laura. My fantasy gal has red hair and green eyes.
Yeah I’ve never understood the teasing about red hair thing.
I second Enas’ fantasy gal.
Im pretty PROUD of being in NA (Narcissists Anonymous. Obviously Im still working the program…..
I thought I was wrong once, but I was mistaken.
Then again, that should have been obvious to you on account of my wit, charm, and boyish good looks.
One of my best features is my mustache …. oh, wait…
Well, before I cut it and had it thinned out I would have said my hair.
Now, physically, probably my eyelashes. They are long and full without any mascara. I have friends at work who covet them.
When I was younger I had people commenting all the time about my eyes, but I don’t see anything particularly notable about them, myself.
Oh, and I agree about your hair, Aggie. Quite a lovely mane.
Oh, yeah…I was coveting them, too
So, ArmedGeek….does this mean a new avatar will be forthcoming?
(hint, hint)
I’m pleading the 5th.
I would have said being as humble as I am is what I am most proud of, but I realized that in doing so, I would have lost the very humility I was so very proud of. So failing that, I will go with my voice. Someday I will provide a pod cast of some topic or another, in order to validate my claim. (Or you can ask M and Mrs. M over at the rott, they have heard me, and know of what I speak.)
“Yours, oh, vein…” That Mennonite-looking bass player ended up with G.E. Smith’s SNL band. Carly was hot, but I always thought she and Steve Tyler were separated at birth.
Interesting you should say that, Bunk….I believe she dated Mick Jagger for a while
More cowbell, folks.
Hmmm…I would say my sense of humor and abiility to make people laugh.
Also, I am rather proud of a sizeable physical feature I possess….and by that I mean my nose. I’ve been told I have a classic Roman nose, and that my profile looked like it belonged on a Roman coin.
