Welcome Home
I’m sure you already heard about this but the other day George W. Bush showed up at DFW to welcome soldiers home. I’m quick to admit that there’s an awful lot about his work as POTUS that I was really unhappy about and I’m sure many of you feel the same. But you just can’t doubt that he’s a good man. This right here is a classy thing to do. He’s not running for any office or trying to score points with the public. He’s just doing his part to make the returning soldiers feel welcomed and appreciated.
How many soldiers have been personally welcomed home by the guy that sent them to war ?

Class act, W.
At the time this happened, he and Laura had just returned from Haiti from a goodwill mission. When they heard soldiers were coming from overseas, they dropped their plans to go home and instead waited to welcome them, one by one. Afterwards, he escorted them to the USO, where he took time to visit with them.
Thanks for posting… seems the room is very dusty right now…sniff…
Yeah, President Bush had his faults while in office, but his feelings toward the troops, and his dealings with same, were honest and above board … and the troops knew this.
So when he takes the time to freely interact with same, they know it is the “real deal”, and not some staged “dog and pony show”.
Notice the stark difference when anyone from the current administration attempts to do the same thing. *crickets chirping* And rightly so.
Good for them! The Bushes always seemed like good people.
Off topic, but here’s the latest object of my materialistic desires: hammered copper tumblers. Nice eh?
ZOMG check out the flatware! That’s gorgeous! Ahhh, hand wash only though.
hand wash only ?!? Fuck that. I mean if I had a wife to wash dishes for me then maybe.
^lol! I did hand wash only flatware for a while then said “Oh the hell with this” and just started putting them in the dishwasher. After a few months they didn’t look so good and I just got rid of them for dishwasher safe stuff.
Still, this would be good for a “nice” set for company or special occasions. I never have company or special occasions so this is totally impractical for me.
I have to say, that would a hell of a thing to be something to be a part of. Closest I ever came was a few weeks back when QEII and PM Harpo walked past me in Winnipeg.
Looking back on it, I wish I’d sneezed. Just to see how security would react…
I miss that old fart.
THAT, along with (were he still alive) Ronaldus Maximus, is a man I would have felt true pride in having shaken the hand of. W may have had some faults, yeah, but he is a damn fine gentleman.
Well, I’m supposing “autocomplete” on this new ‘puter I had to buy ain’t right. My avatar vas nicht.
