The Movable Feast

Posted by LC Aggie Sith on Friday, September 3, 2010 in Open Thread

As we all know, alcohol can facilitate fornication. That goes without saying, but what about food??? Is there such a thing as an aphrodisiac? Are there any foods that you enjoy, that can give you a mental lift, or maybe give you a *ahem* physical one?? Speaking for myself, there is no freakin’ way I would ever eat raw oysters, or balut, or ambergris, or powdered rhino horn to get aroused, but there are some weird people out there that swear by it. So, without further ado, tell us your favorite foods to “get it on”, or just to feel goooood!!!

Yeah, ok…Zimmern doesn’t really fit in the pic, but she is perfect ;)

  1. You know, looking at the pic, I can’t help but wonder who will be the first to caption it!

Andrew Zimmern: “So, do you think this African Albino Pygmy Rhino shlong would be better grilled, or pan fried?” …

Raw oysters are great – if you get the right ones and fresher the better. Oysters from the Apalachicola Florida region area are absolutely the best I’ve ever had. They’re really big and have a great flavor. Shuck it, put it on a saltine cracker with lemon juice and some nice hot cocktail sauce and OH MAN! OMNONNOM!! There are oyster bars right on the docks and you get oysters by the dozen right off the boats. It’s very cool.

    Caramels.

“If you squeeze and massage this thing juuuuust right, firmly, but not too aggressively, you can get an incredible white sauce to come out of it.”

  7. Forget it, Mitch…no way in hades will I ever try raw oysters!

  8. Comfort food-wise, for me it’s CHOCOLATE. And I’m with Laura on the BACON, too.

  9. Mr. Bingley, you are a man of a singular idea! :)

  10. Mitchell says:

If I get you over here to Vegas Aggie
I’ll ply you with drinks and at some point sneak in an oyster shooter.

    Mwahahahah!:-D

  11. Nicole says:

I have had chocolate that was worth skipping sex for. I told my aunt, quite seriously, that this chocolate mousse cake concoction from Central Market in Dallas was quite worth skipping a wedding night and honeymoon for.

For readily available to me food, though, it has to be the chocolate and raspberry gelatos from Talenti. Pure bliss.

Of course, from my general shape, one can easily tell that I tend to supplant…ahem… activity… with food on a regular basis. :P

  12. It will take a lot of drinking, Mitch :D

Nicole, I will have to stop by our local Central Market and pick it up, because that chocolate mousse confection sounds like the best of both worlds!!

  13. Nicole says:

Don’t tell your husband I told you about it. I don’t want the blame for any consequences. :P

However, that falls under “better living through chemistry” :)

  18. cmblake6 says:

And I agree w/WAMK: why waste time?

  23. Enas Yorl says:

Completely off topic but I watched Book of Eli today. Wow. That was a great movie.

  24. Quite a few people have told me the same, Mitch alias Enas. Keep an eye out for a movie open thread in a couple of weeks ;)

Book of Eli was fantastic! Excellent story line, acting, everything.

  26. Foods I really enjoy, that make me feel good:

Fried Oysters, especially on a po-boy (dressed)

There’s a burger they make at Red Robin restaurant, that has a mess of fried jalapenos, chipotle mayo, onion straws, and pepperjack cheese on it that I have to get every now and then….man, it’s good.

Really good salami (the imported Italian stuff that costs $15 a pound) on rye with provolone cheese with Sicilian olive mix.

Can’t think of any food though that acts as an aphrodisiac for me. Oddly enough, if there’s something that gets me in the mood, it’s an good action or war movie. Some of my better nights in that regard (ahem) were after watching Gladiator and 300.

  29. I did a dogpile search for “sexy food”, and that came up. It’s from Andrew Zimmern’s show on the Travel Channel. :)
