I want to thank all of you for a fantastic year here at Hookers&Booze. Back in January this site saw 13,628 individual visitors. As of today, this month we’ve had 37,031 visitors. All that growth is thanks to all of you and of course, thanks to the lovely Miss Aggie.
Thanks! And we’re looking forward to another great year in 2012.
Overnight Hooker
Most of you are in bed right now and will probably find her in the morning. Still, I’m posting this at midnight, so I can title it whatever I want.

First Loves and Jalopies
My first car was a Grand Am, two door, gold deathtrap. It did its job, getting me from point A to point B. It was a piece of crap, but at least I had no car payments to worry about. When it came time to get a new car, Hubby and I got a new car and got rid of the Disco Deathtrap™. I had no love for it, and it had no love for me.
Hubby’s first car story is vastly different from mine. He bought his dad’s 1983 Saab, once he was out of college. Anything that car needed, he gave it. New headlight? Done! Chip in the windshield?? OMG!! Fix that STAT!! He coddled and nurtured that vehicle like it was his baby. Imagine the grief when a squirrel took out the electrical system to nest inside it, totalling the car and imposing a four month period of mourning. He still has the keys to it, and recalls her (yes, her) fondly.
Is it different for women and men when it comes to cars? Was your first car your first love, too?
What a Difference a Network Makes
As we fondly recall, Keefy Olbermoron was fired announced his his departure from PMSNBC in late January. It was a momentous occasion, since his show, Countdown with Keith Olberman, was the top-rated show at the network, and according to *ahem* news sources, it was PMSNBC who had chosen to end his contract with the network. Whatever… all I know is that Keefy screwed up and had become a sacrificial jackass lamb. Now he’s *ahem* the chief news officer of the Current TV network and the host of Current TV’s weeknight political commentary of the same name as his last gig. Creativity is not the man’s forte.
Anyway, as we all know, our friend Radical Redneck lives in the mad environs of New York. Yes, pity him, but not too much. Due to his proximity, he Lizard was able to snag pics of Olbie’s Current (heh!) office, while on a visit. It must have been so sad to leave an office here:

Slippery Slope Becomes Greased Slide
Gah….and I was having such a good morning. I just had to go look at the news:
The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) announced today that the Department of Defense will begin allowing Muslim and Sikh students who wear an Islamic head scarf (hijab) or a turban to participate in the Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC).
Now, I don’t have anything against Sikhs at all. But the whole point of JROTC is to help groom kids for a future in the military, a uniform military. But because one young woman had to transfer out of her ROTC class due to her hijab, CAIR had to make sure to exert influence.
CAIR requested constitutionally-protected religious accommodations for the girl and for future Muslim JROTC participants.
I know for a fact that Catholics cannot carry a rosary in their hands while in uniform. I have never seen a Jew wearing a yamulke while in uniform (please, correct me if I’m wrong). What I do know is that no complaints about that have ever been filed by Christians or Jews. But I guess this is where the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Soon enough, young men will be allowed to sport beards. Looking at the bright side, at least we will know who they are, and where to aim, if necessary.
I do wonder if they will let my kids show their crucifixes now.
