Saturday Semi-Hooker

Posted by LC Aggie Sith on Saturday, September 24, 2011 in Bonus Hooker, Extra Hookers, Open Thread

I feel dreadful, but I have obligations to the readers here, so by Jove I will lift my foot from the grave in which it resides and deliver a morsel for the visual feast.

Hope y’all have a great Saturday. I’m off to pass out on the couch.

Tuesday

There was a Republican debate last night. I didn’t watch it. Did you? Is there any point to these debates? These days there’s not a thing any of these folk can say at any time, in any place that could be remotely considered ‘public’ that wouldn’t wind up on video or print or “print”. Debates made sense when it was a rare opportunity for a candidate to speak their piece about their positions. Now, I’m not so sure.

Here’s a tidbit I found on TheGatewayPundit:

In a new CNN poll that finds Perry at the front of the Republican pack, the Texas governor’s lead among GOP voters age 65 and older is actually bigger than his lead among younger voters. Fifty-two percent of respondents over 65 say Perry is their choice for president, versus just 21 percent who choose Romney. In the overall numbers, Perry leads Romney 32 percent to 21 percent, with Ron Paul following at 13 percent, Bachmann and Gingrich at seven percent each, Herman Cain at six percent, and Jon Huntsman and Rick Santorum at two percent each.

So far anyway, Romney’s and the media’s attacks on Perry’s Social Security remarks don’t seem to be having much effect.

I don’t have any problem with Republicans beating each other up over issues but when they start lying about each other is when it gets out of bounds. Romney is not going to go quietly. He sat down (I figure at the request of the party) for McCain and now he figures it is his turn. Romney feels entitled and is likely to do a lot of damage on his way out. Perry is not the party pick and is not the sort that will bow out for the national party in expectation of receiving backing later.

Poker Night is tonight at 8pm Texas Time. Hopefully, we’ll get some players this week.

Yeah, i’m not as good at writing headlines as Aggie.

Let’s start with The Wire. If you’ve not seen it, watch it. Even if you’ve never seen it, or don’t intend to, this is still one of the coolest cop scenes ever made.

Turn out the lights.

Most important, the EPA’s regulatory cascade is a clear and present danger to the reliability and stability of the U.S. power system and grid. The spree affects plants that provide 40% of U.S. baseload capacity in the U.S., and almost half of U.S. net generation. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, or FERC, which is charged with ensuring the integrity of the power supply, reported this month in a letter to the Senate that 81 gigawatts of generating capacity is “very likely” or “likely” to be subtracted by 2018 amid coal plant retirements and downgrades.

That’s about 8% of all U.S. generating capacity. Merely losing 56 gigawatts—a midrange scenario in line with FERC and industry estimates—is the equivalent of wiping out all power generation for Florida and Mississippi.

Now, see? That is how you create jobs.

Warren Buffet owes back taxes.

Billionaire Warren Buffett says folks like him should have to pay more taxes — but it turns out his firm, Berkshire Hathaway, hasn’t paid what it’s already owed for years.

That’s right: As Americans for Limited Government President Bill Wilson notes, the company openly admits that it owes back taxes since as long ago as 2002.

Surprised? Yeah, I’m not either.

You know what time it is now, don’t you? Yeah, that’s right. Time for a Hooker…

US DOJ now enforcing foreign laws .. by raiding Gibson Guitars.

Here’s 1000 words … or at least the equivalent.

This would be so much fun..

One last thing: Poker Night. Since its short notice, I’m not going to bother organizing for tonight but starting next week Poker Night will be Tuesday night at 8pm Texas Time.

Also, don’t forget to sign up and get your picks in for Hookers & Booze Football
