Sometimes it doesn’t pay to relive your childhood. I used to read comic books when I was young, and loved how the good guys always won, and the bad guys were vanquished, and evil was held back for another day. And I always understood that heroes didn’t die, and by extension, neither did villains. Seriously, what would be the fun in that??
But now, Marvel has decided to jump the shark five times over. Because the first time was just too much fun.
[I]n the Ultimates series, Peter Parker gets killed at the hands of his nemesis the Green Goblin. But, being a comic book series, no hero stays dead for long. While Peter Parker may be gone, a new kid is stepping into the tights: Miles Morales.
Miles Morales is a half-black, half-Hispanic super-powered teen who gets into the hero game after being inspired by Parker’s death.
Yes, I know the Ultimate Series is different than the standard line. But not only do they kill of Spidey, his replacement has to meet Affirmative Action approval. Now, I could care less what ethnicity a superhero has. But I do care when suddenly, they start changing ethnicities and races of previous characters.
Nick Fury is now black.
Heimdahl, the freakin’ WHITE GOD, is now black.
Interestingly, previous characters that were black, have not been made into other races or ethnicities in the Ultimate Series, like Blade and War Machine. In the Marvel Universe, Affirmative Action is a one-way street.

OCT 22, NATIONAL DAY AGAINST POLICE BRUTALITY.
OCT 24, UNITED NATIONS DAY.
OCT 26, everywhere; INTERSEX AWARENESS DAY. (I was confused at this, until I read it was for hermaphrodites. Yep, they get a day, too.)
SUN OCT 31, UNICEF DAY.
And in between those there were plenty more days devoted to “democratic” actions, such as protesting the tenth anniversary of the Afghan War. The irony of their protest escapes them.
As to the flyer itself, there are no words. I found it especially galling that right under “Creating a more Democratic Classroom” they have “The Line Between Us: Teaching about the Border and Mexican Immigration” and “Black Student/ White School”.
It’s no wonder it’s derided as the Left Coast.
Gates of Hell
Color me oh, so shocked. Our esteemed Secretary of Defense, Robert Gates is touring Afghanistan on his last days as Sec Def, has basically sold out our military to the altar of politics.
Defense Secretary Robert Gates bluntly told Marines on Sunday that they won’t be able to opt out of their enlistment just because they disagree with a government decision to end a ban on gays serving openly in the military.
If that isn’t a slap in the face, I don’t know what is. I admit I was excited to see the President of Texas A&M University get picked to be Sec Def after Donald Rumsfeld retired (or was thrown under the bus). Gates had shown a lot of improvement at my alma mater, though some things struck an odd note with some Old Ags, like keeping the office of the Vice President of Diversity. And under Bush he did a fair job of being diplomatic. But in my opinion, he wasn’t chosen to be a diplomat.
And we he chose to stay under Prez Obama, I knew it was a problem. He chose to follow whoever is in office, rather than speak for the men and women of our military. And a man like that will not stand for anything.
“We have not given the Marines a chance to decide whether they wish to continue serving [without the Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy]. Is there going to be an option for those Marines that no longer wish to serve due to the fact their moral values have not changed?” [the sergeant] asked.
“No,” Gates responded. “You’ll have to complete your … enlistment just like everybody else.”

“[Y]ou don’t agree with each other on a lot of things,” he added. “But you still serve together. And you work together. And you look out for each other. And that’s all that matters.”
According to Gates, there is “training” underway to prepare the military for the new policy.
When I was going to school, we called that “re-education.”
Congratulations, Mr. Gates. You were the first one to screw our military under the new policy. Have a cigar.
The New Sword
I was perusing the British blogs today for some inspiration to hit me. I am in a rut, I admit. It’s hard to pick one thing to write about when you are bombarded by such Gloom & Doom™ every day. First the economy, then gasoline prices, then the 2012 contenders, then the Libya fiasco, then the storms, the fires, the death and destruction…. It can be overwhelming. So I go to the Brits so I can still get a sense that we aren’t so sunk yet. And they deliver:

I have issues with that statement. The major one being, The U.S. does have an Islamist problem. It’s just not as grave as Great Britain’s. Not yet, anyway.
London became the world terrorist hub partly because the country had a long tradition of shielding dissenters of all stripes; because it had a very unintrusive state compared to its European neighbours (no ID cards); and because of Britain’s historic links with many Arab countries. But there was another reason, and this is central to the reason why Europe has an Islamist problem and the United States doesn’t – the welfare state. Welfare is intimately linked to the failure of western European countries to integrate their Muslim populations, and explains why Britain has such a problem with Islamism.
Welfare is a very useful tool for the muslims. Just look at the debacle of Lewiston, Maine. Once Somali immigrants heard from “scouts” about the bountiful welfare to be had in Lewiston, they descended upon the town in droves. The welfare rolls in the city were so depleted, the then-mayor sent out a written plea to stop the Somalis from migrating there. Obviously, this backfired. The difference in the Census of 2000 and of 2010 shows very little change in population, which tells me that there was also an outflux of residents. I don’t have to wonder why.
Meanwhile, our government, spearheaded by this administration, seeks to increase dependence on the Welfare State. This is the New Sword. The muslims tried to take over Europe using swords, and now they have figured out that the pen is indeed mightier. With every stroke of the pen legalizing Shari’a, opening borders, granting asylum, and giving benefits, the muslims come one step closer to conquering all of Europe. And soon, with the help of the liberals here, they will start to conquer us, too.
My ancestors fought that in Spain, and San Isidro will help me fight it here. You can bet on that.

Well, in all fairness, we have known for a long time that the European Union is a one-world nation-state too weenie to fight the thuggery masquerading as political correctness. But the Commission has never, ever been this bold in its plans to establish a One World Order:
EU to ban cars from cities by 2050
Cars will be banned from London and all other cities across Europe under a draconian EU masterplan to cut CO2 emissions by 60 per cent over the next 40 years.
That’s right: they want to force Europeans into giving up their cars, and taking the rail. And even air travel will be restricted. The plan is to get rid of all conventional fuel cars in all cities. All, not just metro areas. Because by Gaia, you will bow down to your new priests’ commandments.
The Commission stressed that only conventionally fueled vehicles would be banned, but this is only the first boulder down the slippery slope. Hybrid and electric cars will also be affected, once the EC figures out (if they haven’t already) that plugging the little suckers in sockets drains precious solar and wind generated electricity, since coal will in all likely hood be banned by then.
In a rare bit of insight, Hugh Blandon, spokesman for the Association of British Drivers said, “If he wants to bring everywhere to a grinding halt and plunge us into the new dark age, he is on the right track. We have to keep things moving. The man is off his rocker.”

You have Qaddafi and his sons trying to brutally quell the masses. And the U.N. has the balls to praise them for their record on human rights??
Oh, and among the countries who praise Libya: Iran, Sudan, and Cuba, role-models of oppressive governments. What freaks me out is CANADA signed on to this piece of shit. One question for Canada: how does it feel, knowing your oil is not good enough for the world, but Libya’s is??
On top of that, they didn’t even bother to call witnesses against the Qaddafi regime. Several refugees, some of them diplomats who defected last week, have come forward to denounce the regime as a gross violator of human rights. But no… they praise Libya and quell dissent from the watch groups. Very democratic….

Sometimes it takes getting mugged to realize things are not as they seem. From CBS:

Correspondent Laura Logan was in Tahrir Square, covering the Egyptian crowd celebrating the stepping down of Hosni Mubarak, when she was separated from her crew. Once she was away from her group, she was severely assaulted sexually and beaten. She was rescued by several Egyptian women, along with about 20 Egyptian Army troops.
Once she was saved from that mob, she got back to her crew and hotel, and left Egypt the following morning.I sincerely hope she recovers and isn’t scarred by this. What bothers me is the how and the why. She went in, uncovered, and without security, only her crew. And the why? Simple: she is a woman, uncovered, showing herself in a vast anonymous throng that believes women for the most part are simply property. I’m all for equality of opportunity, but I know that doesn’t apply in most of the Middle East. Why CBS and Ms. Logan thought it did, I have no idea.

Because Moonbat believes that housing is a common resource, like oh, I don’t know…. federal lands? public roads? public parks? Shit if I know. I’m not British. Or a Moonbat. In Georgie’s Moonbattery World, he believes, and I am NOT making this up, that it was a mistake to allow the Market, and the Market alone, to determine who gets what. Here in the USA, we call that opportunity. Georgie calls it thievery:
