There Are Signs Everywhere
Yesterday, I was taking the kids out for dinner, and Eldest brought up a group whose music she and her brother enjoy. I was tickled by the band’s name, Five Finger Death Punch, and we were talking about the origins of the name, and the movies where we had heard the term. She came home, and pulled up YouTube for a bit, to listen to it. As I sat there, listening to it, I started thinking of those far away from us, doing a job some Americans are too bitter to do. And my heart hurt.
This morning I find a YouTube link in my email. Same group, same song, and my heart broke all over again:

From DailyMail:
He may be 85 years old, but when Army sniper veteran Ted Gundy was given the chance to show off the skills he used in World War Two, he proved he could still keep up with the very best.
Thanks to Aewl for the tip.
Saturday HOOAH!!!
This is a guest post by our friend, LC Draco:
Having spent time in ‘THE BOX”…I find it amazing bands still come and play for the troops. I do not think people understand the morale boost it is for those who spend years (yes… YEARS) away from their loved ones. This video (along with a 3 Doors Down video) hits home. Bad Company was and still is a favorite song and band of mine. But this video hits home for me. Complete with CH-47s, Cobra’s and CQB. (For you n00bs…CQB means Close Quarter Combat). For those in the know…PIE THE ROOM!!!
Pure Awesomeness!!!
Welcome Home
I’m sure you already heard about this but the other day George W. Bush showed up at DFW to welcome soldiers home. I’m quick to admit that there’s an awful lot about his work as POTUS that I was really unhappy about and I’m sure many of you feel the same. But you just can’t doubt that he’s a good man. This right here is a classy thing to do. He’s not running for any office or trying to score points with the public. He’s just doing his part to make the returning soldiers feel welcomed and appreciated.
How many soldiers have been personally welcomed home by the guy that sent them to war ?
PowerPoint Hell

Seriously, this is what the Armed Forces have to deal with on almost a daily basis. No, not the Afghan hell described above. That they can handle. I mean the PowerPoint presentations. This was an attempt to explain what is going on on the ground!! I don’t know about y’all, but this is almost like a Dungeons and Dragons map to me. I bet the Armed Forces would probably understand a D&D map better than they would THIS. The good news is, the islamofascist terrorists can’t understand it, either. Sheesh…….
Where’s the media re: Iraq ?
From The Jawa Report:
iCasualties.org reports 11 Coalition fatalities in Iraq in November. There were 12 soldiers, 1 civilian worker and 1 unborn child killed by Major Nidal Hasan at Ft Hood on November 5th.
Oh, that’s why we never hear about Iraq anymore.
Chris Matthews, Traitor Du Jour
httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sTbJcixsLq8
I was trolling along Drudge Report, reading the not-so-favorable comments about our Resident-in-Chief, when this little nugget caught my eye: Chris Matthews calling WEST POINT the “ENEMY CAMP”. You can imagine the bile I felt rise when I heard that miserable communistic piece of putrid whale dung refer to our future men and women of the United States Army the ENEMY CAMP. I don’t believe he has ever referred to terrorists in such a manner. As far as I’m concerned, he can go to hell, and be Saddam’s little bitch, taking turns with every other despot he likes to stroke his needledick to every night.
Consider this your leave to cuss like sailors. Let’s see who can come up with the best description for this piece of human flotsam!
Astonishing Aerial Photographs from WWII
peiper over at Barking Moonbat EWS found some absolutely kickass aerial photos from WWII.
I grabbed this one because I’m a big fan of the movie A Bridge Too Far. As well as a fan of the huge iron balls it took to attempt Operation Market Garden.

Dotted around the fields of Holland, these gliders clustered together formed just a small part of Operation Market Garden in September 1944 -- the largest airborne operation ever carried out

I’m going to make you go over to Barking Moonbat EWS to see the rest of these.
Teh Won Speaks
“You guys make a pretty good photo op,” [President Obama] said.
While on his “Apology-Looza Tour II”, Prez Obama made a 52 minute stop at Osan Air Base in South Korea, and though he could not be bothered to make a decision as to the troop surge in Afghanistan, he did take the time to thank South Korea for their efforts in the war in Afghanistan. You know, the unilateral front?
As a parting shot, he got a “huge cheer” from the troops as he told them they would be getting a pay raise. Which is interesting, considering Congress has to vote on a raise before he can sign off on it. As Prez Obama X said, “That’s what you call an applause line.”
Zombies
Ok, take your time and think carefully about this. Tonight I’ve been watching the remake of Dawn of the Dead (which is not a bad flick) and it got me thinking about fast vs slow zombies.
So, here’s the question:
Would you rather fast zombies that are stupid or slow zombies that are smart ?
Think about it and tell me the whys and whatfors.
Update: I’m going to watch Zombieland today.
