Survey Says??
Yeah, another survey-slash-poll again. As a general rule I don’t put any stock in them. I just don’t subscribe to the idea that Joe Q. or Suzy Y. will be all that honest talking to a stranger. Anyway, several weeks ago, a liberal friend of mine posted a survey on his BaceFook wall about how conservatives (who he claims are dumber than a box of rocks) are more stupid because they don’t believe in science.
Of course, he linked to Think Progress (Warning: you may end up puking your morning coffee). The “report” came from the American Sociological Review, which in my modest opinion, having been exposed to it while in college, is already skewed to the left side of the political spectrum. One thing he and I tend to agree on is Pew Research. So I think he is squirming a bit due to the latest survey.
On eight of 13 questions about politics, Republicans outscored Democrats by an average of 18 percentage points, according to a new Pew survey titled “Partisan Differences in Knowledge.”
The biggest gap? Over the question of which party wants to reduce the size of the federal government. That was a difference of over 30 points in favor of Republicans. The only question where Democrats had an edge over the Republicans was over which party wanted to reduce defense spending. Shocking, I know.
Like I said, I don’t put much faith in polls and surveys. I do take exception to being called “dumber than a box of rocks”. At least I go outside of Think Progress for information.
And because some of you will invariably click on the Think Progress link, here:

Girlie Drink of the Week
Since Hubby returned from that hellhole Egypt, we have been busy around the house getting rid of the crap that accumulated during his absence. Yes, some is mine, and some is his. We are going through my piles stuff right now. I have been doing rather well, but I want to reorganize the master closet a bit better so that I can fit my horde of purses utilize the shelves more efficiently.
I had no idea it would be this taxing. By the end of the evening, I wanted to take a hatchet to the shelving. But logic prevailed, and I kept my cool, because this was waiting for me:
The Sidecar
- ¾ oz Cointreau
- ¾ oz lemon juice
- 1 ½ oz cognac
- Sugar
Place ingredients in a shaker filled with ice. Shake well. Rub the rim of a chilled cocktail glass with lemon juice and dip into crystallized sugar. Strain mixture into glass, and garnish with lemon peel.
And all I need is just one ![]()
DeadPool Update: Dick Clark
From TMZ:
Dick Clark — famed TV producer and “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” host — died from a massive heart attack this morning … TMZ has learned.Clark’s rep tells TMZ, the TV icon had been in St. John’s hospital in L.A. after undergoing an outpatient procedure last night. Clark suffered the “massive” heart attack following the procedure. Attempts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful.
Clark was 82,
He was only 82?
WAMK gets credit for the report, beating Slightly by almost 15 minutes.
Mope and the_botnet had Clark on their lists and get 18 points each.
This gives the_botnet a wide lead but there’s still a lot of time left before October.

The Force is Still With Cheney
Still calling it the way it is.
“I can’t think of a time when I felt it was more important for us to defeat an incumbent president today with respect to Barack Obama. I think he has been an unmitigated disaster to the country,” [Dick] Cheney said at the Wyoming Republican Party state convention in Cheyenne on Saturday.
I needed a cigarette after watching that ![]()
