Wee Bit of a Rant
I tend to avoid making political posts over at the social-site-with-faces. It’s really pointless, since most of my friends share the same views. Those that do not tend to get the vapors, so I avoid drama. I get plenty of drama at home. Anyway, a few days ago the whole place was atwitter (heh!) with a recently released news item concerning the views of a certain CEO of a certain store chain, claiming he only markets his brand to “the cool kids”, specifically, he doesn’t make clothing for women above size Large. The store does sell XL and XXL clothing for the muscular, athletic man, though.
Abercrombie & Fitch, the controversial US clothing retailer, has been accused of deliberately excluding plus-size women from wearing its clothes, by failing to make or sell women’s wear in any size above Large. The latest claims of body elitism come from Robin Lewis, a retail industry analyst and co-author of The New Rules of Retail, who says Abercrombie CEO Mike Jeffries “doesn’t want larger people shopping in his store, he wants thin and beautiful people.”
Now, I don’t care for this company. Never have. I think they are over-priced and over-hyped and over-sexualized and that’s just not for me or my kids. But he has every right to market to whomever he wishes. It is HIS company, HIS vision, and HIS accountability to the shareholders. Now, keep in mind Mr. Jeffries made these statements in 2006 for Salon magazine, but is only now catching the attention of the blogosphere because….. I really have no idea. For whatever reason, people are up in arms about this. So I will rant away as only I can.
You don’t like it, then don’t shop there. You don’t like that he markets to the bold and beautiful and young and restless, then find someone who markets to YOU. Quit being a whiny little bitchy baby, grow some cojones, and move on. There is more pressing crap out there than some bloviating wannabe It Guy selling over-priced shit to stuck-up kids using their parents’ credit card.
I mean, it’s not like there aren’t any other places for plus-sized women to shop. At all. Seriously.
Sometimes I just want to slap the blogosphere.
To Serve and Protect
Notice I never mention what they are protecting.
Memphis mayor says police union’s ‘danger’ billboards hurting city’s image
The billboards in question show a warning sign, telling people, “DANGER: Enter at your own risk; This city does not support public safety.”
Now, if I were to see that sign, I would think that there was no local law enforcement at all. But that is far from what’s really going on.
Mike Williams, the president of the MPA (Memphis Police Association), said the billboards are meant to target city leaders and are about protecting union’s jobs and benefits.
Apparently, the city had wanted to institute a 4.6% pay cut to its police force in order to avoid laying off any officers. But the MPA is just not happy about losing any of its benefits. If you think this is about public safety, think again.
“The mayor has the power to stop it, so if in fact he wants to stop it then he needs to do right by the city employees, and definitely the police officers in this city,” Williams said.
So in essence, it’s not about the people, or even keeping the officers employed. It’s extortion.
And here I thought that was illegal.

At Least 2 Dead, Dozens Injured After Two Bombs Explode at Boston Marathon
More news here. Reportedly two more explosive devices were found near the bombing site.
It takes a special grade of coward to do something like this. We all know that, no matter that they may be an islamofascist, Aryan Asshole, or Black Panther Dickwrinkle.
But my question is, after all the ammo purchases, all the armoured vehicles, all of the claims that they are there to protect you from the ever-vague them… where the fuck were the DHS Schutzstaffel??
This enquiring mind wants to know.
Got Valium?
Because you’ll need it. That, or liquor. Whatever gets you through the day.

Because Being Offended is the Easiest Way to Shut Down the First Amendment
I am ashamed to report that not even my alma mater, Texas A&M University, is safe from the evuls of diversity.
Last week, several students at Texas A&M took to their Senate to object to having a portion of their student fees pay for the Gay and Lesbian Students Association. Personally, I don’t care if my school has such a student group. I believe in freedom of association, after all. However, some students did not wish to have their fees go to fund a group that goes against their religious beliefs.
See where I am going with this?
Anyway, the Senate voted 70-65 to approve ‘The Religious Funding Exemption Bill’, which states:
“While it can be argued that many services are a worthy use of funds in order to provide an opportunity for academic success at Texas A&M, it is reasonable for students to object to a use of their own money that they feel violates their religious conscience. The broad varieties of religious views expressed by students are equally important, and the variety of services they disagree with should be treated with equal importance.”
How about that? Actually observing and enforcing the First Amendment, which this being a state school, they have to actually, you know, OBSERVE AND ENFORCE. Had TAMU been a private university, it would have been different. But never underestimate the power of idiots ignorance academia diversity. While the Senate can approve or disapprove a bill, the Student President has final veto, and guess what he did?
Texas A&M Student Body President John Claybrook [on Friday] ‘confidently’ vetoed a very controversial measure approved yesterday by the student senate which allows Aggies to withhold the portion of their student activity fee which would go to the Gay Lesbian Bisexual and Transgender Student Center.
Because the needs of the many never outweigh the needs of the weepy few.
“This has caused great harm to our reputation and to the students who feel disenfranchised by the bill,” he wrote in a message.
Never mind the hundreds he just disenfranchised in the name of his goddess, Diversity. Gay trumps every time.
“This damage must stop today. Texas A&M students represent our core value of respect exceptionally, and I am proud of the family at this university. Now, more than ever, is the time to show great resolve and come together, treating each other like the family that we are.“
Just how is squelching someone’s religious freedoms showing respect? I don’t know about y’all, but in my family, no one agrees with anything, not even when it comes to Coke™ versus Pepsi™. This dickwrinkle believes that in order to show respect, you must trump one group above others. When I attended A&M, some of us decided to form a “dead group”, for archaeology. Guess what? We got NO FUNDING from the student fees. We had to raise our own funds to do anything. Why can’t they, as well?
This student president may claim to espouse Texas A&M as a family, but he has no idea what being an Aggie means. He barely cuts it as a 2%er. I hope all of the disenfranchised religious groups appeal, and bring to light the roaches pushing politically correct diversity down their throats.
A Mattress is Starting to Look Safer
At least when it comes to keeping your money.
Cypriot ministers rushed on Monday to revise a plan to seize money from bank deposits as part of an EU bailout, in an effort to ensure lawmakers supported it in a vote later in the day.
The weekend announcement that Cyprus would impose a tax on bank accounts as part of a 10 billion euro ($13 billion) bailout broke with previous practice that depositors’ savings were sacrosanct and sent a shiver across the bloc, causing the euro to tumble and stock markets to dive.
In case you are wondering why, it turns out that Cyprus is the Russian’s Switzerland as far as bank accounts go. Not only is the island a haven for gun running and drug dealing for the *ahem* Cyrillic Mafia, the wealthy use the Cypriot banks to facilitate their business. But in order to “tax” the wealthy Russians, the government has to tax every bank account to “make it seem fair”.
Needless to say, Vladimir Putin is very, very angry. Moscow was set to extend a 2.5€ billion loan to help the island in view of how Russians do use their banking system. Now, that extension may be jeopardized, and that can actually push the Cypriot parliament to “tax” the bank accounts.
It’s a viscous circle. Yes, viscous.
But hey, that can never happen here, right?
A Simple Question
Why is Bin Laden’s son-in-law, Sulaiman Abu Ghaith being charged in a US criminal court, but Anwar Al-Awlaki, an American citizen, not given the same due process, instead being blown up by a drone strike?
Is it Opposite Day? Did I not get the freakin’ memo??
I picked a hell of a time to quit drinking.
Money to Burn
Unbelievable.
I never link to the NYT, so if you want to read the story, go to Drudge.
Kerry Announces $250 Million in U.S. Aid for Egypt
Seriously. what the SHIT?? Prez Obama promised that shithole ONE BILLION DOLLARS. This is the first disbursement. Meanwhile, in the Land of Reality I like to call the United States of America, he is implementing Sequestration.
The aid announced Sunday consists of two parts. One is a $190 million infusion for Egypt’s budget intended to address what Mr. Kerry said was the country’s “extreme needs.” That assistance has already been approved by Congress.
Mr. Kerry also pledged $60 million for the creation of a fund to support small businesses, which will provide “direct support to key engines of democratic change in Egypt, including Egypt’s entrepreneurs and its young people.”
“Extreme needs”?? What exactly is that? And supporting small businesses??
How about supporting OUR small businesses first? How about meeting the extreme needs of Americans still without a place of their own after Hurricane Sandy? How about meeting the extreme needs of people who have to work two jobs because their hours were cut due to the implementation of Obamacare? Or how about meeting the needs of those being furloughed during Sequestration???
We are essentially funding them to hate us. Well, fuck that on a stick with sauce. They can hate us for free.
Well…
They didn’t hug AT ALL.
I swear, who in Vegas ever thought of that stupid bet??
*forks over $20 to Hubby*
Jackwagons….
