First SMD Soldering

Posted by ArmedGeek on Monday, August 31, 2009 in Microcontrollers

Well, here it is. I finally got the nerve (and the board) to try hand soldering a damned tiny microcontroller to an adapter board. It really wasn’t that hard, however at this point I don’t actually know if it works.

New Toy

Posted by ArmedGeek on Saturday, August 8, 2009 in Gadgets, Microcontrollers

I got a new toy in the mail.
bumble-b
It is a breakout board for Atmel’s at90usb162 microcontroller, along with supporting hardware and USB connector.

You can program Bumble-B without any special hardware and using entirely free and open source software from Atmel and the AVR community.

You can find it at Fletchtronics.net. Tell him ArmedGeek sent you and he might write “Bomb Parts” on the package before he mails it.

Adventures in Microcontrollers

Posted by ArmedGeek on Tuesday, June 2, 2009 in Microcontrollers, Programming

Lately I’ve been learning the ins and outs of Atmels AVR microcontrollers.  This is an early project I put together.  It is an ATTiny2313 programmed in c.  The 14 segment LED is controlled by two 8-bit shift registers.
