Remembering
Last Friday, I overheard a woman speaking to her friend how she just didn’t understand why we don’t move on and not think about 9/11/01 any more. To her, it was just so long ago, and we should just put it behind us. I admit, I was very angry. Forgetting is the first step in repeating, after all. But 9/11 was not “long ago”. Not when you have a gaping hole still seeping in the middle of New York City, one that wounds the Nation’s soul. A gaping hole that keeps being salted by the likes of political correctness. I ask you, how can you forget about this:
Remembering gives us hope. Remembering gives us a goal. Remembering honors those who were killed, and those who died to protect us.
Forgetting lets the terrorists win.

False Advertising
I was over at The Bloggess following links around her site, when I stumbled into her column at Sexis.
Some things defy explanation, y’all.
I must warn you, this is not for the faint of heart (or is it feint? And what fencing has to do with this, I don’t know). And once you see what is below the fold, you’ll understand the title of this post a bit better….
Give Peas a Chance
A few days ago, cbullitt, AKA C Monster, AKA SOYLENT GREEN posted a flyer that I gratuitously and creatively borrowed for your perusal:

Here is a larger view, and complete poster for your viewing pleasure. Or retching. I was clicking around the internet trying to find out more information on this, when I happened to find a Seattle Area calendar of events for the month of October:
OCTOBER is LESBIAN, GAY, BISEXUAL, TRANSGENDER AND INTERSEX HISTORY Month.
OCT 2, Mohandas GANDHI’S BIRTHDAY.
OCT 11, National Coming Out Day is an internationally- observed day for coming out and conversation about GAY, LESBIAN, BISEXUAL, TRANSGENDER, AND QUEER (LGBTQ) issues.
OCT 16, United Nations WORLD FOOD DAY.
OCT 22, NATIONAL DAY AGAINST POLICE BRUTALITY.
OCT 24, UNITED NATIONS DAY.
OCT 26, everywhere; INTERSEX AWARENESS DAY. (I was confused at this, until I read it was for hermaphrodites. Yep, they get a day, too.)
SUN OCT 31, UNICEF DAY.
And in between those there were plenty more days devoted to “democratic” actions, such as protesting the tenth anniversary of the Afghan War. The irony of their protest escapes them.
As to the flyer itself, there are no words. I found it especially galling that right under “Creating a more Democratic Classroom” they have “The Line Between Us: Teaching about the Border and Mexican Immigration” and “Black Student/ White School”.
It’s no wonder it’s derided as the Left Coast.
Message to the thugs
I heard this on Michael Berry’s show and thought I’d share.

Blog Roundup
Here are my picks for today’s interesting posts from our little corner of the blogosphere:
WAMK points to the precursor to Weinergate, and how the Representative is not exactly looking for the perpetrator.
Mel has once again thrown down a gaunlet of epic proportions. Sithy Things will respond.
Proof that Soylent Green is not only delicious, but so good for you.
The Glorious Lemur King regales us with a catastrophe that wasn’t, among other things.
Laura wants to be a Goat Moses. This is NOT a surprise.
THS elevates Britain’s Prince Phillip to demigod status. Too bad his son is a pussy.
So, enjoy my picks of the day. I’m still laughing over Prince Phillip. That man is a royal treasure ![]()
Update [ArmedGeek]: You know, I was going to add my picks for the roundup, but everyone is just talking about WeinerGate which just bores the crap out of me.
Don’t forget; Tonight is Poker Night.
Soap Soccer!!
And I thought Carmen Miranda and Juliet Prowse were the best things from Brazil:

Creatively borrowed from Robo Monkey. And after this clip, y’all should weep with gratitude, and go lavish him with attention.
A Rose by Any Other Name
As is my Jones, I go check HubbleSite every morning. Yes, they have an app for that. I imagine they track you from space, too. Anyway, I was over there checking out their newer additions, when one stirred the romantic in me.
That is Arp 273, a pair of interacting galaxies. The smaller one, the “stem” is thought to have passed through the larger one, the “flower”.
When I was young”er”, I never fully appreciated roses. It just seemed to me that they were so over-commercialized. I mean, every single holiday pushes one to buy roses, even Christmas. Consequently, I was never a fan until in later years, when I grew my own, and learned to appreciate the lushness and beauty of the unfolding petals, the fragrance of romance, and the thorns telling me to back the hell off. Still, though not my favorite flower, they still stir the romantic in me.
And it’s nice to see romance out among the stars ![]()
Blogwhoring
Sometimes I like to take the time to link my blogosphere friends’ posts here. I don’t participate in Fantasy Football, or March Madness, but still like to to a “Top Ten” posts from around the ‘Net sometimes. Mostly because I am avoiding doing laundry. Here are my faves for today:
WAMK has an awesome Paul Ryan video. The way he handles the CBS reporter is mentally stimulating.
Uncivil Peasants brings you the totalitarian state of Kalifornia.
As usual, Soylent Green tries to cool you off. No….not really…
Over at Nobody Move!, John D. gives us free reading material wrought by his fevered mind. Awesomeness!!
Leave it to The Glorious Lemur King to captivate his readers with the tale of the Volcano of Love…
Laura gives us hope, and Gandhi. No joke. Ok, maybe a tiny joke.
My day is not complete without splodey, and XBradTC delivers.
Nicole shows breath control. No mints required.
Whew!! That should tide some of y’all over for a bit. My good deed for the day is done ![]()
ZOMG!!!1111ELEVENTY!!!!
Today I cleaned the bathrooms, no easy task, and had to wade (yes, wade) into son’s room to ferret out his laundry. It was a regular day, full of the crap moms do and full of the crap that needs to be done. Gah, truth be known I am still cleaning up. But I went to check the mail today, thinking, “Shit, the HEB circular better have ground beef on sale,” when I found a small package. At first, I thought I had ordered yet another bauble from QVC, but no…. wrong packaging. So, I went home, and opened it and ZOMG!!!!
A late Christmas gift from my boss, ArmedGeek!!! IS THIS NOT THE AWESOMEST MUG EVAH??? And before y’all think you can swipe it so you can get serious geek cred, think again. It was personalized:
And don’t worry. I sent him booze for Christmas but I couldn’t find a hooker to mail
