Ok, this is really NOT my area of expertise, but a frequent lurker has expressed a concern over an oversight on our poll in the sidebar. So, I decided to indulge him, and of course, our reader and lurkers as well, with a bit of ….shall I say, Tumfoolery ![]()

Girlie Drink of the Week
Guess what?? IT’S NOT LENT ANYMORE!!!! WHOO HOO!!!! Unfortunately, it’s Parenting 24/7 here, so I can’t just play catch-up
But with Mother’s Day approaching, and since I lapsed and didn’t do a shopping guide for y’all, I figured I would do a pretty simple and delish drink to serve to all the mothers, be they of the parental or attitude kind.
As a side note, this year I purchased Lolita glasses for all of my sisters and sisters-in-law. And for me. Of course for me. They all come with recipes, some of which I am hesitant to try. But once in a while, the recipe listed just screams to be done.
This is one of those times.
The Pink Panties:
3 oz vanilla vodka
1 oz light cream
Juice from a few crushed strawberries
Sugar cubeIn a shaker, place vodka, cream and juice. Shake well with ice. Rim martini glass with sugar, and place sugar cube in glass. Pour mix slowly, and garnish with strawberry slices.
And the perfect vehicle for that libation:
Make sure to appreciate the moms this Sunday!!!
Girlie Drink of the Week
No, I did NOT break my Lenten ritual. Ok, maybe I did a teeny, tiny bit. But I ran to church and confessed, and the priest laughed at me, so I guess everything is fine. Anyway, a while back, Mr. Bingley posted a recipe for Caipirinha, which is Brazilian for “WHOO HOO!!!” Curious, I decided to stop at the local world liquor store and see if they carried the specialty liquor, Cachaça, (yes, I copy/pasted that, since I can’t do the funky tail accent on the “C”). They had several brands, in both gold and silver. I am more partial to crystal rum, so I chose the silver, and after the tough cleaning day yesterday, I decided it was time to get drunk to try the recipe, since I knew a lot of you have been severely disappointed in the lack of girlie drinks around here.
That was sarcasm.

Brazilian Mmmmm....
CAIPIRINHA
2 tsp Granulated Sugar
8 Lime Wedges
2 1/2 oz Cachaça
As Mr. Bingley recommends, peel as much of the lime peel and pith as you can, since it is very bitter. Cut the wedges and put in a glass, along with the sugar. With a pestle or similar utensil, “muddle” the limes and sugar together. Add ice, and pour the Cachaça, mixing well. Very refreshing, and perfect for Spring and Summer. Once Spring gets here, anyway ![]()

Gerry Rafferty, RIP
We lost one of the greatest singer/ songwriters today. Gerry Rafferty died at the age of 63 after a long illness. He will be missed. My absolute favorite of his:
