Girlie Drink of the Week

Last night I was perusing Pinterest (there’s a surprise) looking for a casserole recipe when it dawned on me that I had not posted a girlie drink in a while.

HERESY!!!

Call it Divine Intervention or plain luck, but right next to one of the recipes was a photo of a cocktail and when I clicked on the link, the recipe was revealed. It was simple. It was doable. It was Kismet.

rusty nail cocktail

Rusty Nail

  • 2 parts Scotch whiskey (I use single malt but blended is fine)
  • 1 part Drambuie™
  • lemon for garnish

Pour both ingredients into an old-fashioned glass over ice, and stir to combine. Add a lemon wedge for a zing. If it’s too sweet, add more scotch. Conversely, if it’s not sweet enough, add more Drambuie. You can’t lose here 🙂

  1. Only if the single malt is cheap Val-U-Rite Scotch, can you desecrate it with Drambuie. Blended is fine, but ruining good single malt is HERESY!

  2. I’ve also heard of a “similar” concoction called a “Rob Roy!!” Any info on the making of??
    Got whiskey……OUTLAW!!!!,
    III%,
    skbill-out

  3. Does anyone else just love that Aggie thinks of a Rusty Nail as a “girly drink”?

  4. ArmedGeek, that’s exactly what I’m here to comment on. Given that Drambuie is half honey and half scotch, her girlie drink is 3 parts Scotch, 1 part heather honey. Can’t wait for her margarita recipe … “2 tbs lime juice, 1/2 cup repasado tequilla, 1 jigger of Gran Marnier. In a rocks glass with 1 ice cube mix gently …”

SkyBill – a Rob Roy is a Manhattan, just use scotch instead of rye whiskey.
